Tes PCR sering disebut swab test karena pengambilan sampel melalui swab dari hidung atau tenggorokan. Sampel berupa dahak, lendir, atau cairan akan diteliti di laboratorium berbasis genetik. Jenis tes PCR akan mendeteksi keberadaan RNA virus untuk menentukan positif atau negatif terinfeksi corona. Tes PCR membutuhkan waktu lebih lama dibandingkan pengujian lainnya karena pengujian untuk menemukan genetika bukan perkara mudah<\/p><p>Tidak semua orang harus menjalani jenis tes COVID-19 seperti PCR. CDC merekomendasikan tes PCR hanya untuk orang dengan gejala terinfeksi virus corona, orang yang kontak dekat dengan orang positif COVID-19, dan orang yang diminta petugas kesehatan dalam hal ini Satgas Percepatan Penanganan COVID-19. Biaya tes PCR cukup mahal, sekitar dari Rp1,5 juta.
